How to Use noVNC Remote Management for a Dedicated Server
This guide explains how to access the IPMI remote management panel for your Dedicated Server using noVNC from the Client Area.
This method does not require OpenVPN. The remote management panel opens directly in your browser through the noVNC button.
noVNC remote management gives you browser-based access to the server IPMI panel. From there, you can open the server console and manage the server remotely.
Open the IPMI Tab
To open noVNC remote management:
- Log in to the Client Area.
- Go to My Services.
- Open your Dedicated Server service.
- Go to the IPMI tab.
Open noVNC
In the IPMI tab, click the noVNC button.
A new browser window will open with the IPMI panel for your server.
If the noVNC window does not open, check whether your browser blocked the pop-up window and allow pop-ups for the Client Area.
Log in to IPMI
After the noVNC window opens, you should see the IPMI login page.
The username and password can be entered manually or inserted automatically from the noVNC toolbar.
To insert the login details automatically:
- Click the Username field on the IPMI login page.
- Click the Insert Username button in the top-right corner.
- Click the Password field on the IPMI login page.
- Click the Insert Password button in the top-right corner.
- Click Login.
After logging in, you will have access to the IPMI remote management panel.
If the username or password is not inserted automatically, click the correct field first and then use the Insert Username or Insert Password button again.
Open the Server Console
After logging in to IPMI, the server console should be visible in the IPMI panel.
To open or activate the console, click directly on the visible console window.
You can then interact with the server console from your browser.
The console works like a remote screen and keyboard connected to your server. It is useful when the server does not respond to SSH, has boot issues or requires access during OS installation or troubleshooting.
When to Use noVNC Remote Management
noVNC remote management can be useful when:
- SSH is not responding,
- the operating system does not boot correctly,
- you need to check boot messages or BIOS/IPMI output,
- you need console access during troubleshooting,
- you need to manage the server remotely from your browser.
Restart IPMI
If the IPMI panel does not open, the console does not load or IPMI does not respond correctly, you can restart IPMI from the Client Area.
Restarting IPMI may temporarily interrupt access to the remote management panel. Wait a few minutes after the restart and then try opening noVNC again.
After IPMI is restarted, go back to the IPMI tab and open noVNC again.
Verification
If the noVNC window opens, you can log in to IPMI and the server console is visible, noVNC remote management is working correctly.
If noVNC does not open or IPMI does not respond after restarting IPMI, please open a support ticket and describe what happens when you try to access noVNC.
