What traffic is counted on Dedicated Servers?

Traffic counting on Dedicated Servers depends on the selected server offer.

Some Dedicated Server offers count only outgoing traffic, while other offers count total traffic, which includes both incoming and outgoing traffic.

The traffic counting method is shown in the offer description on our website:

  • * means that total traffic is counted, including both incoming and outgoing traffic.
  • ** means that only outgoing traffic is counted.

Outgoing traffic

Outgoing traffic means any data sent from your Dedicated Server to the internet or to another external destination.

Examples of outgoing traffic include:

  • downloads from your server by other users,
  • upload traffic generated by services running on your server,
  • data sent from your server to external servers,
  • any other traffic leaving the server.

Total traffic

Total traffic means both incoming and outgoing traffic.

This includes:

  • data sent from your Dedicated Server to the internet,
  • data downloaded to your Dedicated Server,
  • uploads to your server from another location,
  • all other incoming and outgoing network traffic.
ℹ Traffic Counter

Dedicated Server traffic is counted from the 1st day of the month to the last day of the month. The traffic counter is reset on the 1st day of the next month.

ℹ Traffic Counting Method

Please check the traffic information and symbol shown next to your selected Dedicated Server offer. The symbol indicates whether total traffic or only outgoing traffic is counted for that server.
